Stacie,
All of us have experienced the Movie Phenomenon to some degree at one time or another, but the other thing is sometime seeing something again tiggers something we had forgotten about.
Sometimes I watch video regarding some aspect of softball the first time, just to get the overall picture of what the "Coach" is trying to get across. When I watch it the second or third time, I'm move focused on detail and may even repeat or slow down a section to better understand what is happening.
Sometime when I hear something from another person who is speaking on a framiliar subject, it may be how that person emphasizes different areas of the subject that cause me to focus differently. For example, I have gone to numerous clinics over the years as well as having read and looked at numerous books, articles, and videos regarding hitting a baseball or softball. I'm constantly finding little gems that both help me understand various aspects of hitting mechanics and how better to help me teach kids.

I agree with both sides on this. Many times I look at the same videos or read some of my favorite coaching books over and over to maybe pick-up some aspect I did not focus on before or go back and be more detailed about a section my team may be having trouble with. This is especially true with authors and coaches I really feel have a lot of good knowledge of the game. At the same time, I am always looking for something "new". A seminar or report with interesting or different information in it. If I were to read a report, book, or watch a video with things I think I have a firm grasp on (common sense stuff) w/out a new take on it. It is easy to dismiss it. My point is that even though it may be stuff we have heard over and over try to keep it fresh and interesting with new takes on the subject or approaching it from a different angle. I can see both sides on the issue.
