Japan Wins Gold Medal!

Oh my goodness!  Japan just beat the USA Women's National Team to win the Gold Medal 3-1.  I didn't get a chance to watch the game, but I have it recorded.  Wow!  Their game in the earlier rounds was also a great one that the US won, but this time, it was Japan's day.

Wow!  Are you stunned like I am?

I've started a discussion over at Fastpitch World if you have comments or thoughts, or simply leave one here.

Don't forget the awesome game that Japan and Australia fought out. 12 innings! The Japanese pitcher threw 21 innings of international softball in a single day! Before backing up for the gold medal game.

Congrats to Japan on Gold, US on Silver and Australia on Bronze. Great tournament.

i am stunned just like many other USA fans are.
I knew the game would be tough for the US, but the way the US walked on everyone else made me believe that they again would come out on top for the last time.
My dream is to play softball in the olympics when im older, and i hope they decide to bring the sport back.
the usa team took a great loss that will only make them stronger as a team in the future.

It was definitely hard to comprehend at first. Team USA was strong, I just figured they'd find a way to overcome Ueno somehow. But not this day. Too bad they had to lose in the last game of softball in the Olympics -- at least for now. But it's a good reminder to everyone -- any team, no matter how good, can lose if it runs into the right opponent and doesn't play its very best.
