Infield Article Posted

Just added an article to AllAboutFastpitch.com called Why the Middle Infield has to be Strong. It contains some interesting information for coaches, parents, and players alike. I actually printed it out for my entire team because there are tips in there that apply to every position, not just the mid-infield. Hope you like it!

December Fastpitch Interview Posted

For those of you who are not Fastpitch Members and haven't had a chance to read our December Fastpitch interview with Kaulana Gould ~ it's now posted to the site!

Visit http://www.allaboutfastpitch.com/interview/kaulana-gould.html to read Kaulana's Interview.

Kaulana Gould plays DI softball with the University of Hawaii and was named 2005 WAC Freshman of the Year. She took some time out of her busy pre-season schedule to share some of her experiences with us.

Thanks again Kaulana!

Fastpitch Christmas List

You know you're ball player when some of the top things on your Christmas list are softball things. LOL ~ my list includes new batting gloves and new cleats. :)

I'm thinking that any softball equiptment I buy for coaching purposes is tax deductible though (since I coach at a local high school and, therefore, am an employee of the state).

Anyway ~ we wish you and your family a happy holiday season. Don't forget to check out Engraved to Last for cool softball/sports-related gifts!

First game - first win.

It's always great to get that first game of the season over and done with. It's funny, we played so many pre-season games, yet the girls still had "first game jitters" for the first two innings of the game. In fact, we were down 2-0. The coaches weren't so much worried about the runs scored as they were about the way the girls were playing. Nothing was routine those first two innings and we went down 1-2-3 each time at bat. Thankfully, they settled down and started to play! We ended up scoring 6 runs and winning the game 6-2. I told the girls I'll give them the "first game jitters" out for the first two innings of the game. However, I also let them know that that's ONLY allowed in the first game. No more. Usually one bad inning is enough to do you in. You certainly can't afford 2 bad innings every game. But like I said, they came back nicely in the end and we let them know that those last 5 innings is how we expect them to play every inning of every game. Hopefully they get the idea ~ we'll see what happens. Our next game is tomorrow.
